On 17July 2023, MARG Foundation held a meeting of the North Melbourne stakeholders with City of Melbourne for discussion on The Women’s Empowerment and Safety Plan 2024 and the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2024.Many people from North Melbourne participated in the meet. The people belonged to different walks of life and different communities.
City of Melbourne shared its commitment to its residents, workers, students and visitors that they be felt included & that to achieve this goal of inclusion, COM had several plans.It wanted to make sure that it was focused on what’s important for its stakeholders.
Participants talked about their experiences on belonging, safety, inclusion, inequality & discrimination laying the path open to what existed today and what inclusions if made ahead would give a vow feel.
The discussions and the take of it constituted four main areas.
One – Own housing for vulnerable women to enable, freedom from violence.
Second – Dedicated opportunities of employment and progress for CALD Women impacted by violence.
Third – Holistic health opportunities like aqua therapy etc for older residents.
Fourth – Safety, security, maintainence and upkeep.
MARG looks forward to a leap ahead in the Self Help Group Housing Plan as detailed in its submission to COM by MARG.
